AJA assisted Brown & Co with gaining planning permission for redevelopment of the former Brickmakers pub in Horsford, Norwich. The scheme would create a new Co-Operative supermarket plus a butchery/deli and café. Plant and deliveries serving the businesses would inevitably generate noise and we were appointed to assess the potential noise impacts on nearby residents.
Our scope included a survey to establish baseline noise levels at nearby properties, along with spreadsheet and CadnaA 3D modelling predictions to calculate likely noise levels from deliveries and mechanical plant.
The Co-Op has had a presence in the village for many years and this development will see existing staff move to the new store. The development will also see Keelers Butchers relocating from its existing premises on Holt Road to a separate building on the site.
The benefit to the village was recognised by Broadland Council, which approved the planning application for the scheme in August 2021. Construction is scheduled for 2022.
