With the worst of Covid behind us, returning to the office, more hybrid working and face-to-face meetings have led to a raft of new assignments.
2022 also saw two new staff members join the team.
1. New faces

Autumn 2022 brought two new faces to AJA – Julez Redding and Ben Hunt.
Julez’s background includes work in London, remastering and translating films into other languages. He is a keen drummer and a graduate of the prestigious Tonmeister course at the University of Surrey.
Ben, our other new Assistant Acoustics Consultant has worked for a loudspeaker company and in specialist machine calibration. He has also just been awarded the Institute of Acoustics diploma.
2. Festivals return

2022 saw the return of large-scale music festivals. It was good to be involved again, monitoring Norwich and Lowestoft events.
The First Light Festival was a great success, despite some typically English weather, and once again we assisted with noise levels at the Norfolk and Norwich Festival.
3. AJA Scholarships

Following delays caused by the pandemic, in 2022 AJA launched a new Scholarship scheme. This three-year sponsorship programme supports young musicians from across Norfolk. Cash awards enable players to enhance their musical experience through the Norfolk County Youth Orchestra’s training programme.
4. STEAM Careers Fair

On a wintery day in November, Senior Consultant Pete Erskine and Marketing Manager Andrew Cane set up a stall at the Gresham’s School STEAM Careers Fair.
The event was packed with students, discovering more about careers in science, technology, engineering, arts and manufacturing. Held at the new Dyson Building, the fair saw some very enthusiastic future acousticians visit the AJA stand.
5. Renewing the A11

One of the larger construction jobs in Norfolk is the resurfacing of part of the A11 dual carriageway. This major arterial route connects Norwich to London and Phase Two of the £60m project by Morgan Sindall started in the Spring.
AJA has had a few team members working on this 15-month improvement scheme. We have provided advice and tested noise and vibration levels to ensure the vital work goes smoothly and reduces disruption in the area.
We look forward to the completion of the A11 repairs in 2023, along with plenty more projects large and small.
