Andy Thompson
ASSOCIATE / OPERATIONS MANAGER
Andy is a graduate of the Tonmeister degree in music and sound recording at the University of Surrey. He also holds the Institute of Acoustics Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control, receiving a special commendation for achieving merit grades in all assessed components and winning the Association of Noise Consultant’s prize for best project (A Study of French Horn Harmonics).
Following graduation, Andy spent three years at the University of Surrey’s Institute of Sound Recording, where he was responsible for designing, installing and maintaining recording studios and equipment, supervising students, and assisting researchers. He then joined AJA in 2002 and in his 20 years of consultancy experience has led the acoustic designs for a wide range of projects, notably major refurbishment works at the Bishopsgate Institute in London and a new performing arts centre at Hampton School. Andy’s current role is primarily managing the company’s operations, including technical QA and mentoring junior colleagues.
As well as management duties, Andy is a long-standing Senior Inspector for the Robust Details sound insulation scheme.
Outside of work, Andy is a keen French Horn player, performing regularly with the Norwich Philharmonic and other local ensembles.
