An impressive new community hub has just opened in Norwich. This is the second major project from YMCA Norfolk which has involved our input.

JUBILEE HALL
YMCA Norfolk bought the old Jubilee Hall from the Royal British Legion when they stopped using the site in 2014. The vision was to transform a tired old building into a modern and welcoming community centre, complete with a nursery and a cafe.

ACOUSTIC TREATMENTS
Old construction types meant that wall and ceiling acoustic treatments needed very careful consideration. There were also some design modifications made to the main space as the project progressed. We worked closely with LSI Architects, Daniel Connal Partnership and the client to reach the right level of acoustic treatment.

MUDDY PUDDLES
The nursery – known as Muddy Puddles – is a key part of the building. This offers a valuable resource to the community, along with a soft play area.

CAFE AND MORE
A spacious cafe named after the YMCA’s founder, George Williams is already serving takeaways. Along with the new offices, the whole building is expected to be fully operational once Covid restrictions ease.

BEYOND EXCITED
YMCA Norfolk’s Chief Executive Officer Tim Sweeting recently celebrated the completion of the new hub. He commented, “Our new building is one of which we are extremely proud and are beyond excited to open its doors to the public, to share YMCA’s community-enhancing mission with members of the Norwich and Norfolk community.”
