The Leyton Green Partnership is an innovative project, located in the London borough of Waltham Forest. It was conceived as a mixed development incorporating buildings for social care, therapy, education and residential.

RESPITE CENTRE
We were appointed by HMY Architects to deliver acoustic design services for Phase One. The centrepiece of this phase is a special Respite Care Centre with therapy facilities for young people with disabilities, autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) and challenging behaviour.

In addition the plan proposed major improvements to Belmont School which is within the development area. Three extensions were invisaged – a gym, a vocational skills centre and a music & drama block. For Phase Two, 22 townhouses were to be built.
WIDE-RANGING
Our brief was wide-ranging and included a site survey and the determination of appropriate noise levels. We modelled noise output from the proposed building services systems. This ensured that strict noise limits imposed by planning conditions and BREEAM were successfully met.

OFSTED
By 2019 the Respite Care Centre was opened. An Ofsted Report was issued, complimenting the facilities. The inspectors commented in their report: “This short break service and the staff contribute to children’s enjoyment and to the whole family’s well-being”.

CALM ENVIRONMENT
The project is still being developed, but for the Respite Centre, excellent acoustic design has created a calm environment. We look forward to further developments at Leyton Green.
